"Abba star and I are just friends" insists Brown’s security chief.
The man leading Gordon Brown’s war on terror was forced into a rearguard action of his own yesterday amid a barrage of claims about his private life.
Admiral Sir Alan West, the former head of the Royal Navy, was said by security sources to have admitted cheating on Rosie, his wife of 34 years.
He has also formed a friendship with Anni-Frid Lyngstad, best known as Frida, the brunette out of Abba.
But both Sir Alan, 59, and 62-year-old Frida were at pains to point out that they were not having an affair with each other.
She declared that she felt sorry for his wife, but she was "innocent".
A tall and debonair father of three, Sir Alan was made a Security Minister this summer in Mr Brown’s "government of all the talents", or Goats as it is known.
He and Norwegian Frida are believed to have met at a charity function in London in spring 2006.
The pair were captured on camera during the event at the Natural History Museum, three months after his retirement as head of the Navy.
