CHESS and Kristina songs are what she really wanted to record

Anne Sofie von Otter, currently performing shows in the USA, confesses all about her Benny Andersson album to the Star-Telegram.

The paper asks her a number of questions about her musical influences and recording projects:

What about I Let the Music Speak with the men from ABBA in 2006?

I wasn’t thinking so much of the ABBA songs. I was thinking about the songs from the musicals Chess and Kristina Från Duvemåla, about the immigrants who came to the States. It was originally a series of books, [by Vilhelm Moberg] and they wrote the music to this musical. It has not been showed abroad [out of Sweden], but the music is wonderful. I went to that four times and cried floods of tears — and those were the songs I wanted to sing.
