The musical Hjälp sökes (in English “Help wanted”) will open on 8 February 2013.
The Orion Theatre was once a huge mechanical workshop on the south side of Stockholm and is now a unique theatre space, one of the most magical in Scandinavia.
The theatre has hosted companies from all parts of the world. Among these are the Peking Opera in Shanghai, Theatre de Complicité from London, Le Cirque Invisible from Paris, the Suzuki Company of Toga, Japan, Mr. Gopal Venu’s Kootiyattam ensemble from Kerala, Southern India and The School of Dramatic Art, Moscow.
Hjälp sökes tells the story of two farming brothers struggling in desolation with existential questions as well as with household duties. After alerting the local newspaper they are promised help from a mother, her daughter and a goat. After that, it all goes to hell in ways you can´t even imagine. “Help wanted” is the musical where anything can happen. And everything will.
Cast: Johan Ulveson, Sofia Pekkari, Magnus Roosmann, Suzanne Berdino, two cows, two pigs, one goat, one horse, three dogs and four geese.
Kristina Lugn is a Swedish poet and dramatist and member of The Swedish Academy. She has published seven books of poetry and since the 1990s Lugn also belongs to the most beloved and appreciated playwrights of today’s Sweden. Her plays have been staged at the Dramaten (the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre), Stockholms Stadsteater (Stockholm City Theatre).
Lars Rudolfsson is the founder and artistic director of The Orion Theatre. In 1993 Lars was appointed artistic director of Malmö Musical Theatre where he directed the musical Kristina från Duvemåla. Lars was also the director of the musical CHESS when it premiered in Sweden 2002. Apart from working within theatre and opera, Lars has also worked on productions involving circus acts, dance and mime.
