Benny Anderssons Orkester to play concert in London in 2009
Benny Anderssons Orkester to play their first London gig
There is this small paragraph about the concert on the site of the Swedish Embassy: "On 1 July 2009 Sweden takes over the Presidency for the European Union and the Embassy of Sweden in London – together with the City of London Festival – is planning an opening week of celebrations framed by the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and an Ingmar Bergman festival.
The theme of the week is ‘A Green Mission’ and there will be a Green Mission Family Day on Hampstead Heath with Benny Andersson’s (of ABBA fame) Orchestra. The aims and objectives of the Swedish Presidency are stated in the first event of the first day; An international debate on the theme – Towards a Sustainable Future? The question mark has suddenly become very relevant."
According to the ABBA Fan Club, the tickets for the BAO concert will be free.
A summer night in London with BAO…sounds almost too good to be true…can’t wait.
Beautiful beautiful setting – outside concert venue – positioned on the hillside below Kenwood House – nearest underground – Hamstead – but long walk from there. Bring you picnics!
Wow! This is great news. I wonder if there’ll be an area for dancing too. My parents would love that.
Bummer again! That date doesn’t fit in with my travel plans either 🙁
Still, good news that there’s to be a BAO compilation including English tracks.
Wonderful news. Let’s start praying for good weather.
I have added a snippet of information to the story above, which comes from the Official ABBA Fan Club that…tickets for the BAO concert will be free.
Has the Venue been fixed yet? & are tickets on sale yet?
Totally fascinated to see another Helen Middlemas. Albeit my name is missing the s at the end. What is strange is I have been an ABBA obsessive since 1976. I used to be on ABBAMail, maybe someone will remember me. Lived in the North east of England, then moved up to Scotland in 2004, moved back to England and moved back to Aberdeenshire about 2 months ago which I was missing dreadfully. Was interested to read there was a post from a train driver. I used to be a train guard in England for a couple of companies. If anyone remembers me, please get in touch. Bye Helen
Elsie Martin said: Ah, wonderful…Benny Anderson was in Minnesota when the American Swedish Institute celebrated their appearance and also raffled off a trip to the Icehotel in Jukasjarvi, Lapland in 2007. A friend of mine won the trip and I was able to participate. What a fantastic time!!
