  • It’s As Good As News… (sorry, couldn’t resist that!) Can’t wait!!! Hope they include some great TV clips… Mike Yarwood springs to mind or how about ABBA in Switzerland in full (or is that another release all in itself!) Anyway, some surprises would be nice…

  • and Chess in concert, and Kristina in Concert, and ABBA World, and ABBA inducted into Rock and Roll hall of fame. Mamma Mia! 2010, what a year…..

  • About time!

Hopefully it will include the Abba In Studio 2
TV special that has that wonderful version of Does Your Mother Know with the long piano intro
and the rockier feel to it! Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase!

  • Wonderful news.

  • Good news!

A must to include on the" Voulez-vous" De luxe DVD : the ONLY 1979 TV performance Of "I have a dream" fom the Spanish TV program taped by Abba in Madrid in May 1979 : "300 milliones"

REALLY hoping that that ONLY TV performance in 1979 of this major hit from the album "I have a dream" will figure on the DVD.

  • Wow!!!!! Finally!
I hope the DVD includes the ABBA in Switerland special, and also the spanish shows APLAUSO and 300 Millones.
    That would be great!
Nice news.I wait for the release of this album…

  • I remember,as a 16 year old when V V came out, reading an article in the fan mag before it’s release. It gave a possible track listing. This included a track called – No Man’s Land. It never materialised. Either it was used elsewhere, or not…..

Really looking forward to this release.

  • FINALLY! Yahooo!! the one i have been waiting for!

How about some extra Unicef on DVD… ?

And a deluxe Greatest Hits Vol. 2 –

  • I have heard rumours that ‘Just A Notion’ will be on the CD. I would also like ‘Dream World’ to appear as well as a Spanish version of ‘Chiquitita’ would be lovely anything on the DVD would be nice.

  • Once Universal’s done the ‘Super Trouper’ and ‘The Visitors’ Deluxe Editions, I hope that they consider to do the ‘Gracias Por La Musica’, ‘ABBA’ and ‘Ring Ring’ albums, as they certainly do have historical value, and there is some great material that could be sourced for such projects too (for example: the ‘Love Isn’t Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough)’ video from Sommerlørdag in 1973, for the ‘Ring Ring’ album would be a great inclusion: it’s good fun).

I’m sure that there could also be a Deluxe Edition of the ‘Lycka’ album. If not soon, perhaps for it’s 50th anniversary in 2020 :o)

    Cheers, Tony :o)

  • This is great news.
I do remember seeing a track list of the album with a track called ‘No Mans Land’ maybe this is a track or been used as part of another track.
I would love to see the single version of ‘If It Was’nt For The Nights’ as performed on the Mike Yardwood TV Special.
Also maybe some of the 12" mixes done by Michael.B.Tretow (as it was ABBA’s disco album)

  • Endelig kommer den. Jeg har ventet på den i hele 09. Jeg var sikker på at de ville slippe en deluxe utgave av Voulez-Vous. Kan nesten ikke vente til den kommer.

  • The full track list is now on the ABBA fan club site under news.
Dream World is included as one of a few bonus tracks and the dvd does include ABBA in Switzerland and Mike Yarwood Show among other clips.

  • Wonderful!! I just hope the alternate mixes are preserved for ‘Does your mother know’ and ‘Kisses of fire’, as featured on the original tv special! How long have i waited for this in good quality!!

  • AMAZING ! ! !
    I WANT IT NOW ! ! !

  • I am totally disapointed by the DVD track listing:

-No TV performance of the title track and international hit single "Voulez-vous
-No 1979 TV performance of "I have a dream",the ONLY one from Spanish TV
-No TV performance from Japan of "Summer night city"
-No Spanish language TV performance of "Chiquittita""

NO Spanish TV perforomances at all…and there were the nicest Abba have ever done and they belonged to the very rare TV performancesAbba did in 1979.

much nicer than the boring "Abba in Switzerland" TV special….

    Missed opportunity really.

  • Im really looking forward to this release. Voulez-Vous is a very special album for me. Love the DVD list. As for all the Spanish performances….mmmm…I wonder is maybe another DVD is planned in th future…this time called ABBA-In Spain? Could that be why no performances are on this DVD? Anyway, looking forward to this release.

  • I agree with duke. I feel TOTALLY dissapointed. I am spanish guy and I wonder why any spanish show is included in this dvd, ABBA performed I have a dream in studio only in 300 Millones, and Voulez Vous in Aplauso and 300 Millones…
I don´t think that Universal has any plans to release a deluxe edition for GRACIAS POR LA MUSICA, where they could include all the ABBA performances in the Spanish tv…
why didn´t they include Chiquitita in Spanish???
    Really dissapointing…

  • I’m dissapointed too. What happened with "Just a Notion", "In the Arms of Rosalita", or even "Sång till Görel" for intance?. Again Universal release the same songs over and over again… no comments the omition of Estoy Soñando and Chiquitita in spanish, which were recorded in 1979 too.

The DVD is ok, but the omitions of the spanish perfomances are quite evident. And I’m agree with "duke", Abba in Switzerland is boring, too much static, but anyway, Abba didn’t do very much besides the 79′ tour that year, so I guess that’s THE special to include, but I’m more dissapointed with the bonuses on the CD anyway.

Plus, Björn and Benny could do FINALLY the single mix of "If it Wasn’t for the Nights" -that they should have made in 1979, but never did- to promote this release, and reivindicate themselves for that big mistake!

Lets hope Universal include next year for Super Trouper deluxe, the rare videos of Gracias por la Musica or Conociendome, Conociendote, only made for "Aplauso", for instance, or the TV appeareances and interviews in 300 Millones and Aplauso (and seeing Björn speaking in fluent spanish).

  • Am really thrilled that Voulez-Vous Deluxe is FINALLY due for release but am also a little dissapointed that there were not more interesting tracks released.

Great to have Dreamworld on it though as I don’t have this! Shame about Just a Notion not there but still…

  • This is great news, but yes, it is disappointing not to see some of those fantastic Spanish tv performances. It would have been a good opportunity to have finally released Just a notion and live versions of GF/VV, If it wasn’t for the nights and As good as new.

  • An extract of an email I sent to Universal Music. It’d be great if others could also do so!

    "Dear Sir,

Like many other ABBA fans, I am very excited about the upcoming deluxe release of ABBA’s Voulez Vous album.

Although the release is fairly imminent, would it be possible to include ABBA’s 1979 appearances on the Spanish programs, Aplauso and "300 Millones" as part of the accompanying DVD? Many fans have expressed great disappointment that these exciting and unique performances of songs such as Does your mother know, Voulez vous, I have a dream and the Spanish version of Chiquitita have not been included. Many fans consider these Spanish performances to be some of the very best ABBA performances from that period and it would be a shame for the DVD not to include them. These performances can be found on YouTube in only poor to medium quality.

I look forward to your reply and am happy to assist further.

    Yours sincerely,"

  • I’m astounded that some fans find A8BA In Switzerland "boring" ..!! I love this show and the girls look stunning in it!! Its the only place we see The King Has Lost His Crown, Kisses of Fire and Lovers Live A little Longer, as well as the fab original mix of Does Your Mother Know!! I bet if Aplauso had always been shown, and Abba In Switzwerland never shown apart from in say- Switzerland- we’d all be shouting for it!! lol lol ..Enjoy it!!!

  • Like Russel above, I remember "No Man’s Land" listed as a song for the "upcoming new album" Voulez- Vous… Years later ,the song "In The Middle of Nowhere" weas included on the first Gemini LP..and has a line in it which goes ".. in no Man’s Land…" just before the 2nd verse…Does anyone know if this is the same song???

  • I wish they would put the ABBA and VOULEZ VOUS back to where they belong… Top Left… Top Right… thats what the original sleeve always was!

  • Come on now.
I remember very well what it was like being an a ABBA fan both in the 70’s and 80’s right up till now.
When ABBA finished and there there was no new output it was pretty devastating. But that was nothing compared to the incredible negativity that happened straight afterwards. I still scoured the sales shelves and found Absolute ABBA, ABBA The Colections 1 and 2, ABBA the Hits 1,2 and 3 as well as ABBA Live. But still ABBA were regarded as has-beens until Erasure and ABBA Gold hit the scene. Then they were back! Then we got ABBA More Gold with the unreleased "I Am The City" on it. I remember very well what it was like to hear an unreleased track and wishing there was more. Then came the Undeleted CD on the 1994 box set. Heaven! It couldn’t get any better!
What I’m trying to say is that the reality is there is only so much unreleased/cleaned up material out there that is presentable.
Believe me I am not a fan of the huge corporate behemoth which is Universal, but they are releasing more now than was ever acessible a few years ago. Who would have thought 20 years ago that there would have been an international release of something like "ABBA In Japan". Never in a million years! But that’s happened.
When I see comments that are immediately posted about the Voulez Vous De-luxe track list not being good enough I get quite annoyed. There’s not a chance that this kind of release is in any way commercial, they’re not making big money,if any, out of this. What I’m saying in a roundabout way is that we shouldn’t slam Universal and immediately say you should have done this or that. Atleast what we now regard as ABBA’s record company is prepared to release things like the 30th anniversary albums with new features on, and I’m pleased to see it.
ABBA’s material will be around for a long long time to come, but let’s not push it, there’s nothing new, maybe Bjorn and Benny will continue to put excellent records together. Maybe the Girls will do more in the future, who know’s?
But for now let’s just enjoy what’s out there and being re-leased and stop complaining.

  • I’m with you Richard! Thank you for your excellent commentary.

  • I have to disagree with Richard. I’m a huge fan of Bucks Fizz, which are INFINTELY less known than ABBA, and from 2004 onwards it has been released an ENORMOUS amount of unedited material, like demos, remixes, extended versions, CDs ENTIRELY made with rare tracks and not just few bonuses on each CD, so my point is, I compare and I can say THAT IS a real interest to release something new from an artist (even if we have had to make donations for some of the releases), so I think there isn’t a matter of to earn more or less money, it’s a matter of interest. OK, this Deluxe maybe is a good release, but we all know that Universal could had done it A LOT better… my complaint is for the constant half made job.

  • Thank you Christian. I think you are at slightly cross purposes with Richard on some of the points he was making. However, thank you also for your great comments.

I’m still in the ‘grateful for whatever I get as long as I get something’ camp!

  • Can’t wait to get this new Voulez-Vous release. As a fan of Kate Bush also, I hope they will put the whole Swiss show, instead of just putting the abba parts. Does anyone know what il will be?

  • @Bernard62 I heard a while back that it was only the ABBA parts of the show.

  • Hello Terry Malloy. If I’m correct – and it’s a long time ago now, I also wondered exactly the same thing when I bought the excellent Gemini album. However, I’m pretty certain that that was one of the few songs on it not written by B&B. I don’t have access to the album at the moment, but, just a notion, that’s all……..

Richard, I’m partly with you on this one, but……..

You can go on to you tube and look at all sorts of ‘shabby’ versions of various bits and pieces – Just like that, Just a Notion etc etc. I cried when I heard the afore mentioned there, the first time.Just the sound of those gorgeous voices, singing something ‘new’together, for the first time in nearly thirty years.

We’ve already had Dreamworld on the box set. Would it be beyond the realms of possibility to have had at least one , cleaned up ‘new’ piece
of archive? Would it really have been too much to have expected?

Surely, when Universal sat down to consider this project, one person must have asked the question "what could we give them (the fans) that they haven’t had before?"

If nobody knew there was anything ‘left’ to listen too, fair enough. But, come on guys, it’s not as though we haven’t heard the 2nd hand bootlegs and youtube snippets. Come on guys, please….

  • Thanks Russell..I didn’t realise Gemini wrote some songs on the first lp!! Thanks for info, matey..lets hope we hear "No Man’s Land" one day…tho another thought of mine is was it the original version of "As Good As New" ?? The words would match…Its A No Man’s Land…A No Man;s Land" ..just a notion…lol!! 😉

  • I disagree with Richard. Of course I am happy to get Abba in Switerland in a great dvd quality, but you can´t compare our times as fans back in the 70´s than now…and another point is: How many times have you paid for the Voulez Vous album?
I guess it is the maybe 7th time I buy a VV copy and I had higher hopes on this edition, that is the point.
I have bought the normal issue on the 70´s (cassete), then the LP when I got the record player, then the Cd, then the remastered Cd version and now the deluxe edition… At least I think us fans have a voice to express our opinions when we feel that both the tracking list on the Cd and the Dvd have many missing tracks…
I totally agree with Christian, when you pay 7 times for slightly the same piece of Art you have something to say about …or not?

  • @Russel
You’re right, "In The Middle Of Nowhere" was written by Anders Glenmark and Ingela Forsman

  • I can understand some people’s disappointment at the lack of ‘Spanish’ clips on the DVD. But I think Universal try very hard to get what they can for us.

I am still completely overjoyed with what we ‘are’ getting !!
